| dc.description | This research analyzes the application of the Doman method for literacy acquisition in students with cognitive disabilities at the IPHE (Panamanian Institute for Special Education) in Santiago de Veraguas. The aim is to evaluate the effectiveness of this strategy and its contribution to strengthening key skills within the teaching process, specifically literacy. The methodology employed was quantitative, descriptive, and non-experimental. Its purpose was to collect and analyze data on the teacher's perceptions and how students act and engage in the classroom during the application of this method. The study participants were seven students with cognitive disabilities and seven teachers from the IPHE. The primary data collection instrument was a survey administered to the teachers, and an observation checklist was used to gather information on the effectiveness and challenges encountered in implementing the method. The results of this research highlight and confirm the effectiveness of this method, particularly because it incorporates visual support, which is fundamental for facilitating the literacy acquisition process for these students. | |
| dc.description.abstract | La presente investigación analiza la aplicación del método Doman para la adquisición de la lectoescritura en estudiantes con discapacidad cognitiva del IPHE de Santiago de Veraguas, esto con el fin de evaluar la efectividad que tiene esta estrategia y el fortalecimiento de unas habilidades más importantes dentro del proceso de enseñanza que en este caso es la lectoescritura. La metodología empleada fue la cuantitativa, con diseño descriptiva no experimental, cuyo propósito es recopilar y analizar datos sobre la percepción que tiene el docente y cómo los estudiantes actúan y se involucran en la clase durante la aplicación de este método. La aplicación para este estudio se conforma por siete estudiantes con discapacidad cognitiva y siete docentes del IPHE. El instrumento utilizado principalmente fue la encuesta que fue aplicada a los docentes y el otro instrumento fue una lista de observación para obtener información sobre la efectividad y los desafíos en la implementación de este método. Los resultados de esta investigación resaltan y afirman la efectividad que tiene dicho método especialmente porque incorpora apoyo visual, que es fundamental para que el proceso de adquisición de la lectoescritura sea más fácil para estos estudiantes. | |
