| dc.description | This qualitative research addresses the participation of parents of children with disabilities at the Luciría Pimentel Bilingual General Basic Education Center, Luciría Nieto de Pimentel, in Herrera. Its main goal is to explore and understand how this participation impacts the academic, social, and emotional development of students with special educational needs. The primary purpose is to identify how parents contribute, through their involvement, to their children's educational success and to the strengthening of inclusive education at the institution. The study adopts an exploratory-descriptive approach, using semi-structured interviews as the main data collection tool. The sample includes ten parents and special education teachers, who provide diverse perspectives on the topic. The results highlight that effective parental participation is essential for the academic and social progress of students, though it is limited by factors such as available time, lack of training in educational support strategies, and limited resources. Despite these barriers, significant efforts by families to engage in the educational process are evident, reinforcing the importance of closer collaboration between the school and parents. The study concludes that strategies fostering greater collaboration and support for families are necessary to improve the educational quality of students with disabilities. | |
