This community project aims to train residents of the Cuay community, located in the Santa Fe district, Veraguas province, in basic first aid techniques, with the goal of strengthening their capacity to respond to medical emergencies. This rural community faces significant challenges related to limited access to health services, long distances to hospitals, and geographical barriers that delay timely care. The project was developed through an initial assessment based on interviews with the community, direct observations, and a literature review, which revealed a low level of first aid knowledge among the residents. Subsequently, training sessions were designed and implemented on scene securing, basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), initial trauma management, hemorrhage control, burn and wound care, and proper use of the first aid kit. The results showed an increase in the participants' level of understanding and practical skills, reinforcing the importance of promoting a preventative and supportive culture within the community. The training provided residents with essential tools to respond immediately to an emergency while waiting for professional help.
