Grief can occur in an individual's life in many different ways and for different reasons, mainly due to a family member's disability. However, it has not received much attention, but it should be analyzed because it significantly reflects family dynamics and is essential because children have the opportunity to receive special education since each situation is different. Therefore, the main objective was to analyze the experience of grief of parents facing a diagnosis of disability in their child at the Toribio Lora Puche General Basic Education Center in Sorá, Chame. The research design was quantitative, with a non-experimental design and a descriptive, cross-sectional or transversal type of study, in addition to describing the support strategies that have contributed to parents coping with grief due to the diagnosis of disability. Of the most relevant results, 44% considered that they are frequently in the denial phase and 50% in the anger phase. In terms of coping strategies, 63% of the time, seeking family support is important, 38% of the time, personal resources are considered factors and degree of influence for a child's disability, and 50% of the time, emotional impact is very important. A child's disability requires coping and support strategies to assimilate, adapt to and navigate a path of acceptance of a child with a disability.
