Shoulder bursitis is inflammation of the bursa, which is located between the acromion and the humerus. The bursa is nothing more than a fluid-filled sac that is responsible for cushioning and lubricating areas of the body where friction is likely to occur due to repetitive movement of the joints, protecting the soft tissue that is on the protrusions of the joint from injury. bone. The presence of an inflammatory process such as shoulder bursitis compromises the functions performed by the rotator cuff and the deltoid. Although its origin has been associated with repetitive shoulder movements. There are other causes that cause this condition in the shoulder, such as trauma, overload, among others. Physiotherapy treatment is aimed at relieving pain, reducing inflammation and restoring mobility. Initially it is necessary to reduce pain and inflammation, then proceed to recover joint mobility through exercises. Exercises are a fundamental part of treatment, especially when there is limited joint range or muscle weakness. The physical therapist will recommend and supervise exercises to strengthen the shoulder muscles, improve the range and flexibility of the joint, and restore its stability.
