dc.descriptionThis project, developed with Psychology students from UDELAS (Azuero extension), aimed to enhance Emotional Intelligence (EI) through an integrative psychotherapy program. The primary goal was to promote emotional well-being, develop clinical skills, and strengthen the capacity to face personal and professional challenges with resilience. The TMMS-24 scale was applied to assess three key dimensions of EI: emotional attention, emotional clarity, and emotional repair. Initial results showed that 20% of the students had difficulties identifying their emotions, 40% demonstrated limited understanding of their emotional states, and 30% struggled with emotional regulation. Based on these findings, an integrative psychotherapeutic program was designed, incorporating techniques from various approaches tailored to the group's needs. The intervention led to significant improvements in emotional awareness, understanding of affective states, and self-regulation skills. Participants achieved greater internal balance, reinforcing competencies that impact not only their personal well-being but also their readiness as future mental health professionals. The process demonstrated that integrative psychotherapy, by addressing emotional dimensions in a flexible and in-depth manner, is effective in fostering comprehensive emotional growth. This work underscores the importance of cultivating emotional intelligence in the training of psychologists, providing them with tools to support others from a sensitive, regulated, and empathic understanding of emotions.
dc.description.abstractEste proyecto, desarrollado con estudiantes de Psicología de UDELAS (extensión Azuero), tuvo como propósito potenciar la Inteligencia Emocional (IE) mediante un programa de psicoterapia integrativa. El objetivo fue promover el bienestar emocional, desarrollar habilidades clínicas y fortalecer la capacidad de afrontar retos personales y profesionales de manera resiliente. Se aplicó la escala TMMS-24 para evaluar tres dimensiones esenciales de la IE: atención emocional, claridad y reparación emocionales. Los resultados iniciales mostraron que el 20 % de los estudiantes tenía dificultades para identificar sus emociones, el 40 % presentaba escasa comprensión emocional y el 30 % mostraba problemas para regular sus emociones. Con base en estos hallazgos, se diseñó un programa psicoterapéutico integrativo que incluyó técnicas de distintos enfoques, adaptadas a las necesidades del grupo. La intervención permitió observar mejoras significativas en la conciencia emocional, la comprensión de los propios estados afectivos y la capacidad de regulación emocional. Los participantes lograron un mayor equilibrio interno, fortaleciendo competencias que impactan no solo su bienestar personal, sino también su preparación como futuros profesionales de la salud mental. El proceso evidenció que la psicoterapia integrativa, al abordar de forma flexible y profunda las dimensiones emocionales del individuo, resulta eficaz para promover un crecimiento emocional integral.
