Refractive defects are visual anomalies that cause the inability of the eye to focus light correctly on the retina which can cause blurred vision up close (farsightedness), far (myopia) or distorted (astigmatism), vision is essential for all people and when presenting a visual impairment either by a refractive error or pathology, The high prevalence of these visual deficiencies in the indigenous population is an indicator of inequality in social and health aspects in comparison with other populations, which makes it clear that it is important to determine the incidence of refractive errors in the indigenous population. A non-experimental, cross-sectional, retrospective, descriptive, non-experimental study was carried out in the population between 20 and 39 years of age in the community of Narganá. Visual acuity (near and far) and refraction tests were performed to obtain values. A total of 139 subjects were evaluated, 34.8% were emmetropic, 50.7% astigmatism, 10.1% hypermetropic and 4.3% myopic.
