This project explores occupational therapy in an equestrian setting. Its objective is to describe the strategies and contributions that occupational therapy can offer to the IPHE Equine Therapy Service. Its goal is to demonstrate the need for the full participation of an occupational therapist, identify the benefits it brings to the service, and design and develop an evaluation instrument. This research employs a qualitative, exploratory, quasi-experimental approach. Data were obtained through the application of instruments such as direct surveys of staff and parents (caregivers or guardians). An analysis was also conducted of the current management of interventions in the service. The results suggest the need for occupational therapy to be fully involved in the Equine Therapy Service. Consequently, it was concluded that the strategies and contributions that Occupational Therapy offers to the IPHE Equine Therapy service focus on offering an intervention approach that prioritizes the skills and needs of schoolchildren on an individual basis, promoting adaptation to the equestrian environment taking into account sensory needs, and enhancing the active participation of the child and their family throughout the intervention process, all through the application of the evaluation instrument developed for the service, which will also favor the acquisition or strengthening of the necessary skills for the child to be independent in occupations both at home and at school.
