Burnout en docentes de la licenciatura en psicología de UDELAS sede, modalidad virtual como consecuencia a la pandemia de COVID-19

| dc.description | Chronic stress is a condition that has plagued individuals for several decades and due to its constant growth, it is subjected to studies that seek to provide an answer to the reason for its manifestation. The purpose of this study is to identify the presence of burnout syndrome in 23 teachers of the psychology degree of the Specialized University of the Americas headquarters, virtual modality as a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic. To develop it, a quantitative non-experimental cross-sectional design and descriptive study were used, for which the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) and an interview were applied. The results indicate that the teachers of the degree in psychology of the Specialized University of the Americas, headquarters do not present burnout syndrome; however, one case was found at risk of developing burnout and another two with high levels of exhaustion, which makes them vulnerable to the syndrome. From the interview, an increase in the working hours of teachers was identified in virtual mode, they state that they have good interpersonal relationships with students and colleagues, but they express feeling more stress teaching classes in virtual mode than in face-to-face classes. In addition, the greatest difficulty they have faced with the virtual modality is the internet connection, as it is vital for the development of the classes. | |
| dc.description.abstract | El estrés crónico es una afección que agobia a los individuos desde hace varias décadas y por su constante crecimiento, es sometido a estudios, que buscan brindar respuestas al por qué de su manifestación. Este estudio tiene la finalidad de identificar la presencia del síndrome de Burnout, en 23 docentes de la Licenciatura de Psicología de la Universidad Especializada de las Américas, sede modalidad virtual, como consecuencia a la pandemia de COVID-19. Para desarrollar el mismo, se utilizó un diseño cuantitativo, no experimental de corte transversal y estudio descriptivo, para el cual se aplicó el Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), y una entrevista. Los resultados indican que los docentes de la Licenciatura en Psicología de la Universidad Especializada de las Américas, sede modalidad virtual, no presentan síndrome de burnout; no obstante, se encontró un caso en riesgo a desarrollar Burnout y otros dos con altos niveles de agotamiento, lo que los hace vulnerables al síndrome. A partir de la entrevista, se identificó un incremento en la jornada laboral de los docentes en modalidad virtual, manifiestan tener buenas relaciones interpersonales con los alumnos y colegas, pero expresan sentir más estrés dictando clases en la modalidad virtual, que en clases presenciales.
