dc.description	OBJETIVE: To describe through tests Schirmer and BUT, what values are most commonly altered in terms of quality and quantity tear in people who have symptoms of dry eye during working rotary shifts operating vehicles for the transport of persons. METHOD: A total of 41 patients who attended the optometry clinic UDELAS who work in a rotating shift environment and their work is to drive, they were provided with a data collection questionnaire for the history clinic and then the Schirmer and BUT tests were performed. RESULTS: The symptoms had a higher incidence shifts during the afternoon and evening reported by patients who were treated at the clinic were burning (overnight) and irritation "red eye" (in the afternoon). Tests conducted alterations measures Schirmer test were mild during all shifts unlike the BUT test which indicated that the alterations are severe in the afternoon shift and moderate in the night shift. CONCLUSION: Burning and irritation are the most frequent symptoms in drivers with the evening shift, the morning and night shifts presented only eye burning symthoms during their daily work; it was found that the tear amount is in the normal limits, in the great majority of the patients evaluated unlike the tear quality it is below the normal limits, especially in the evening shift. dc.description.abstract	OBJETIVO: Describir por medio de las pruebas de Schirmer y BUT, cuáles son los valores que más se alteran en cuanto a la calidad y la cantidad lagrimal en personas que presentan síntomas de ojo seco durante jornadas laborales rotativas que operan vehículos para el transporte de personas. MÉTODO: De un total de 41 pacientes que asistieron a la Clínica de Optometría de la Universidad Especializada de las Américas que trabajan en un ambiente de turno rotativos y sus labores son las de conducir, se les proporcionó un cuestionario de recolección de datos para la historia clínica y luego se les realizó las pruebas de Schirmer y BUT. RESULTADOS: Los síntomas que presentaron mayor incidencia durante los turnos de la tarde y la noche reportados por los pacientes que se atendieron en la clínica fueron el ardor (durante la noche) y la irritación “ojo rojo” (durante la tarde). En cuanto a las pruebas realizadas, las alteraciones medidas con la prueba de Schirmer fueron leves durante todos los turnos a diferencia que la prueba de BUT que indicó que las alteraciones son severas en el turno de la tarde y moderadas en el turno de la noche. CONCLUSION: El ardor e irritación son los síntomas de mayor frecuencia en los conductores con el turno vespertino, el turno matutino y nocturno, presentaron solo ardor ocular durante sus labores diarias; se encontró que la cantidad lagrimal está en los límites normales. En la gran mayoría de los pacientes evaluados a diferencia de la calidad lagrimal está por debajo de los límites normales, especialmente en el turno vespertino.	en_US
